Today I had a lunch meeting with a business colleague.

• We both love sushi.
• I suggested the restaurant.
• I arrived a few minutes early as I was hosting the lunch.

The parking lot was pretty empty.

• I drove by the door.
• Saw they opened at 11:30 AM.
• I found a nice parking space.

I’ve been in a bit of a bah-humbug mood this week.

• Not totally sure why.
• Maybe a touch of leftover jet lag from Hawaii?

Anyhow, I’m my grumpy self and someone pounds on the door.

• The doorbell doesn’t work.
• (To keep things quiet if I’m on a biz call.)
• We weren’t expecting anyone.

I’ve been traveling for 12 years.

• Regularly bee-bopping across the country to speak at leadership conferences.
• But never more than a three-hour time zone difference.

Last week I quickly flipped my body clock the five hours difference to Hawaii Time.

• I stayed up late.
• Often laughing about going to bed after the time I would…

The last 24 hours saw some of the fiercest storms Honolulu has seen in a while.

I woke up very early to:

• No electricity.
• No water.
• Storms raging.

It put me in a bit of a panic.

• My cell phone was dead.
• I had no bottled water in the room.
• And no food.

 In the moment I was honest.

I feel sort of goofy about my rant last night.

• The feelings were real.
• The perspective was off.
• There are worse things in the world than only getting half of one’s leftovers.

I’m not totally sure what ticked me off.

• I had had a nice day.
• I’m usually pretty laid back.

   May be closer than you think.

With Thanksgiving less than 24 hours away, the holiday excitement is growing by leaps and bounds.

• Facebook updates bubble with happy expectations.
• The grocery stores are jam-packed.
• The planes are stuffed to the gills.

• Leaves me behind with Dad for days.
• Makes me be quiet while she teaches online.
• Lets the machine sit in her lap - instead of me!

Enough is enough.

• She’s in Ann Arbor this weekend.
• Dad is going to be at meetings both days.
• She’s mine!
