Always the Last to Know – JAJAH @Call
Always the Last to Know – ReadTwit
Having trouble keeping track of all the interesting links that come into your Twitter feed? Having trouble figuring out which ones MIGHT be interesting (and which are NSFW) from all those shortened URLs? Sick of clicking on the same, albeit good, link 27 times because of the RTs? ReadTwit can hook you up – links are de-duped, expanded, and scraped into your existing RSS feed.

Always the Last to Know – Wolfram Alpha
Wolfram Alpha is – as far as I know – the first workable Web 3.0 search engine. It seems to work best answering math and science type questions, but I suspect that’s an artifact of its creator.

Mozilla is releasing a version of Firefox for mobile devices. Called Fennec, after a small Saharan-native fox, it’s still in alpha release, but if you’re a Firefox-head who wants to help, they need you!

Friday Top 5

The Top 5 Things that are AMAZING about my new MacBook Air:
- SOOOO light. Under 3 lbs. Really.
- Not dependent on MS. For anything. (Open Office, yo!)
- Lightning fast (especially compared to my old laptop).
- Slick-slicky-slick design (’cause you know Apple’s all about bringing the cool, sexy user experience).
- The widgets! I have THREE different NFL/sports news widgets installed for my dashboard! Love!

July 31st, 2009 | Elizabeth Engel | Comments | ContinuedAlways the Last to Know – Hohm
Yes, I’m actually promoting something from Microsoft. In other news, if 4 scary-looking guys on horseback show up, DON’T LET THEM IN!
Microsoft has recently launched the beta of Hohm, a site that allows you to track your home energy use. Data-driven decision making? We haz it.

Always the Last to Know – new NACHRI web site

OK, I’ll admit – I wasn’t the last to know about this. But our new web site looks awesome, particularly compared to its highly-cluttered predecessor. Check it out at www.childrenshospitals.net.
Always the Last to Know – PureText
Hate it when you copy-n-paste text and all of a sudden, there’s all this wacky formatting you can’t seem to fix?
PureText will hook you up with clean copy-n-pastes.

Always the Last to Know – Google Chrome OS

I swear, sometimes it seems like Google launches a new major product every week. But this one’s big – a full operating system based on the Chrome browser and the Linux kernel, designed to run netbooks. And the code will be open sourced later this year.
ReadWriteWeb has some (very good) unanswered questions, but somebody’s trying to eat Microsoft’s lunch.

Always the Last to Know – CoTweet
OK, it’s still in “private” beta, which means you need to ask if you can join the test (and, according to reports, you may not necessarily be approved), but CoTweet provides a really slick way for more than one person to manage more than one Twitter account. Like, say, if you need to manage your personal account(s) and one or more organizational accounts – and maybe responsibility for those organizational accounts are shared, too.

Always the Last to Know: Google Wave
This is long, but it’s worth watching:
Shout out to BMart for the link.

Gadget Lust: Palm Pre
When does it come out again?
(Not soon enough)
I’ll probably even dump my long-term relationship with T-Mobile if there’s no other way.
And that’s saying something.

Always the Last to Know – Universal Translator
From the brains at DARPA. It’s not ready for commercial sale, but yes, really: universal translator.
Could beaming be far behind?
