Do You Really Want ME to Attend?
Got an invitation this morning.
- Via evite.
- To a jewelry party.
- At a woman’s home.
I don’t think I know her.
- She didn’t tell me anything personal.
- Except jewelry is on sale.
- Her name is not familiar.
I clicked through to the evite invitation - just in case.
- She had invited more than 700 people.
- To her home!
- I know it’s not big enough to hold all given the address.
The message to me…
- She doesn’t really care if I show or not.
- As long as she makes her numbers.
- (Still don’t know who she is.)
There are tons of people throwing parties like this.
- No way would I attend a party in a stranger’s home.
- I have friends who throw fun events while they sell.
- And department stores to give me a generic experience with strangers.
Would you attend a stranger’s jewelry party?
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you make potential members feel you are interested in them - and not just looking for another person to pay dues?
