Totally Stretching My Comfort Zone Today!
As you know I’ve kicked up the fitness effort.
- Aching as I walk.
- Debating about throwing away my scale.
- (I’m leaning towards doing it!)
Today I meet with my trainer.
- For a fitness assessment.
- Mahahahaha!
- I already told her I’d flunk it all.
Taking this step has made me think a lot.
- What do I want from this?
- Why am I investing in a trainer?
- What’s the final goal?
Interestingly, it’s not weight loss.
- Sure I can lose some weight.
- And need to lose some weight.
- But I’m not motivated by weight loss this time.
I want to stand tall with a healthy brain.
- Weird eh?
- Wouldn’t have been my first guess either.
- But it’s my fitness hot button right now.
I’ve been reading a lot of brain research.
- The connection between exercise and brain health is huge.
- I’m a brainy gal by nature.
- I need to protect my asset.
I also do not want to shrink as I grow older.
- My mom has lost a few inches.
- Given my curves, every inch matters.
- Plus I like being tall for a woman.
It was fascinating to peel back the layers.
- I kept asking myself “Why do I care?”
- It took a few days.
- Clarity feels really good.
So I’m sweating like a fool and facing my fears to see a trainer - to make sure I’m standing tall with a healthy brain in the decades to come.
(Of course, having a hot body to match the brain would be an okay side benefit!)
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you really know why you are doing what you’re doing - or are you just rolling on autopilot?
