A Rose by Any Other Name
Fashion police have invaded chapter meetings.
- Interestingly I’m not even talking jeans.
- A woman wearing biz casual pants.
- Black, slim cut with nice top.
Got caught by the chapter fashion police.
- Put on warning for looking unprofessional.
- Needed to dress better for chapter events.
- (Lovely to be judged so brazenly.)
Let’s do a reality check…
- The meeting was on a Saturday.
- (Not sure that matters.)
- The woman was an active volunteer - a future leader.
Why do members have to dress professionally?
- Who gets to set the standards?
- Who enforces the standards?
- Do members also get demerits for unattractive outfits?
Is a dress code a member repellent?
- Are right clothes more important than active volunteers?
- Are adults like little children who need to dress nice to behave?
- What is the goal of the dress code?
A mentor once told me you can do anything - as long as you know why you are doing it.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…if you have a dress code for your chapter, why do you do it? Is it working - do you have a surplus of volunteers?
