You Want My Money
At least make it easy to give.
- Got another email solicitation.
- From a foundation wanting money.
- I was turned off with a single glance.
I could barely read their message - literally.
- (No, it wasn’t my flu acting up.)
- They used black font on a dark blue background.
- Had to strain to distinguish words - impossible if color blind.
The headline was a garish contrast.
- A warm brown on the deep blue.
- But really amped up.
- The letters almost wiggled when I looked at them.
Even worse…
- The link to giving was a normal blue link.
- On the deep blue background.
- Nearly invisible without the underline.
They let their design get in the way of success.
- The deep blue is their logo blue.
- Nice in a graphic.
- And donation repellent used as background in the email.
They probably won’t pull much with this ask - and blame the poor economy.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you make it easy to give to your chapter?
