You Want My Money

   Now.

At least make it easy to give.

  • Got another email solicitation.
  • From a foundation wanting money.
  • I was turned off with a single glance.

I could barely read their message - literally.

  • (No, it wasn’t my flu acting up.)
  • They used black font on a dark blue background.
  • Had to strain to distinguish words - impossible if color blind.

The headline was a garish contrast.

  • A warm brown on the deep blue.
  • But really amped up.
  • The letters almost wiggled when I looked at them.

Even worse…

  • The link to giving was a normal blue link.
  • On the deep blue background.
  • Nearly invisible without the underline.

They let their design get in the way of success.

  • The deep blue is their logo blue.
  • Nice in a graphic.
  • And donation repellent used as background in the email.

They probably won’t pull much with this ask - and blame the poor economy.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you make it easy to give to your chapter?
