A Very Bee Kind of Summer
Everywhere we turn there are bees.
- First Raindrop’s allergic reaction.
- James’ discovery of three colonies.
- Now this weekend.
We visited the little local bakery.
- Sat on the bench eating our treats.
- Relaxing in the weekend morn.
- Enjoying the scenery.
A man cut the sunflowers in front of the bakery.
- Raindrop charmed him.
- (Definitely a dog lover.)
- He returned with a sunflower for Raindrop.
We smiled at his gift.
- Admired the beautiful flower.
- Joked about how she could wear it.
- And noticed something weird in the center of it.
It was a bee butt!
- The back legs wiggled.
- The bee was like a kid in a candy store.
- She didn’t come up for air.
We tried to shake the bee out.
- No luck.
- She was stuck in the head of the flower.
- Perhaps absorbing too much pollen at one time?
James found a stick.
- Dislodged the greedy bee.
- She flew off drunkenly.
The bee was clueless we had held her life in our hands!
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you make sure focus on your short term goals does not block your ability to see the big picture?
