Yes.
Today I got a terse email from an association I dropped.
- It doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies.
- And make me want to come back.
What do you think?
- Association name is changed.
- This is the first two paragraphs.
- The rest was too painful to share.
Did you know that your XYZ membership has expired on 04/30/2009?
I am sending you this quick reminder to urge you to renew your membership TODAY. You have only a limited number of days to renew your membership before the end of the grace period. Don’t let another minute go by in renewing this important investment in the success of your business.
Why should I renew?
- I don’t miss them.
- I don’t know anything about a grace period.
- If I don’t, will they stop spamming me?
They claim membership impacts my business success.
- What are they talking about?
- If it did, I would have already renewed.
- That’s a no-brainer.
The next VERY long paragraph says the economy is tough.
- XYZ members are holding their own compared to other business owners.
- Is that because those who see no value already checked out?
- Or didn’t respond to their survey?
It ends with a wimpy close…
- “You may renew your membership in three ways.”
- It doesn’t ask me to take action.
- Nor urge me to move quickly because every day I’m a not a member I might be missing profitable information.
If they can’t write a letter that inspires me to spend $150 in dues; how can they help me grow my business?
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do your renewal letters inspire your members to take action?
