I Thought I Was Right
I spent a few days last week in lovely Vancouver.
- There to speak about leading with compassion when budgets are tight.
- Stayed in a room over looking the water.
- Enjoyed watching the ships.
Didn’t understand the orange structure.
- Why build a high-rise in the middle of the water?
- Downtown was full of tall buildings.
- But in the middle of the water?
For two days I noticed ships pulling up to the structure.
- But it never grew any taller.
- All that energy.
- No results to show for it.
Then a TV commercial decoded everything.
- I saw the orange structure on the TV.
- The commercial showed ships delivering containers for trucks to take away.
- The orange structure was a Canadian port operation - not a new high-rise.
UGH! I thought I knew what I saw - and boy was I wrong!
(The photo is blown up. Didn’t see as clearly from a distance.)
Makes me think of chapter leaders… Do you explain what’s going on in your chapter or assume your members will just get it?
