My Twitter thought of the day
Earlier today, I posted the following thought on Twitter, in response to a re-tweet of the Chuck Close quote, “Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up for work.”
If inspiration is for amateurs, then i feel sorry for the professionals…inspiration is why serious creators show up.
Right now, as we all grapple to make sense of what’s going on in our world and in our personal lives, figuring out what inspires us is a crucial part of discovering new levels of success. You can’t fake inspiration…you either feel it or you don’t…and the difference between those two conditions is non-trivial. If you and your people are inspired, it will go a long way toward creating an authentic climate of creativity and possibility in your organization. If you aren’t, your association may become technically competent, but it will be extremely difficult to nurture a deeper sense of purpose. At a time when innovation is so important, which kind of association would you prefer to lead?
What do you think? Please share your thoughts, either on Twitter or as comments below.
