Said the kick to my gut.

James leaves for swim practice most mornings at 5:30 AM.

• The alarms start at 5 AM.
• He’s out of the house soon after.
• I usually prefer to sleep a bit later.

On Monday, I announced I was going to start getting up earlier.

• I can get a lot done in the morning quiet.
• It’s light out earlier thanks to the clock changes.
• Plus, I can get off my computer sooner too.

The first three days this week went well.

• I got up as James left.
• Jumped on the computer.
• Got tons done before most started their work days.

This morning I was tired.

• Thought I’d sleep in some.
• An extra hour or two sounded good.
• I’d still start work by 8 AM.

Raindrop had a different idea.

• She jumped on top of me at 5:30 AM.
• She barked to wake me up.
• Gave me the special hind leg kick to the gut.

Raindrop was relentless.

• She had heard my proclamation for an early start.
• And was holding me to it.
• Darn dog!

So I got up tired as can be.

• Grabbed something to eat.
• Started my day.
• Grumbling all the way.

Three hours later, Raindrop is still upstairs getting her beauty sleep - as I work.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…who holds you accountable when your enthusiasm for a great idea starts to wane?
