It’s Time to Get Up!
James leaves for swim practice most mornings at 5:30 AM.
- The alarms start at 5 AM.
- He’s out of the house soon after.
- I usually prefer to sleep a bit later.
On Monday, I announced I was going to start getting up earlier.
- I can get a lot done in the morning quiet.
- It’s light out earlier thanks to the clock changes.
- Plus, I can get off my computer sooner too.
The first three days this week went well.
- I got up as James left.
- Jumped on the computer.
- Got tons done before most started their work days.
This morning I was tired.
- Thought I’d sleep in some.
- An extra hour or two sounded good.
- I’d still start work by 8 AM.
Raindrop had a different idea.
- She jumped on top of me at 5:30 AM.
- She barked to wake me up.
- Gave me the special hind leg kick to the gut.
Raindrop was relentless.
- She had heard my proclamation for an early start.
- And was holding me to it.
- Darn dog!
So I got up tired as can be.
- Grabbed something to eat.
- Started my day.
- Grumbling all the way.
Three hours later, Raindrop is still upstairs getting her beauty sleep - as I work.
Makes me think of chapter leaders…who holds you accountable when your enthusiasm for a great idea starts to wane?
