I Should Have Known Better

   But I was excited.

Last week I opened my mouth when I shouldn’t have.

  • I bragged about not being sick all winter.
  • I got a flu shot this fall…
  • And got egg on my face yesterday.

From chills to soaring heights.

  • My fever did it all.
  • I was miserable.

As a kid I often had a high temp.

  • Mom would put me in the bathtub.
  • Then dump ice in.
  • Ironically, she doesn’t remember treating my fevers this way.

I used to regularly hit 104 degrees.

  • It was either ice bed in the hospital.
  • Or Mom and her ice cubes.
  • Mom kept me home so I would be more “comfortable.”

Those baths are a vivid memory for me.

  • Mom denies being the Ice Queen.
  • “A lot of time has passed” she says.
  • Talk about a selective memory! ;-)

Thankfully I seem okay so far today.

(Eating popsicles worked just fine Mom.)

Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you have selective memory about some key element that helped with chapter success - or lack of results?
