I Should Have Known Better
Last week I opened my mouth when I shouldn’t have.
- I bragged about not being sick all winter.
- I got a flu shot this fall…
- And got egg on my face yesterday.
From chills to soaring heights.
- My fever did it all.
- I was miserable.
As a kid I often had a high temp.
- Mom would put me in the bathtub.
- Then dump ice in.
- Ironically, she doesn’t remember treating my fevers this way.
I used to regularly hit 104 degrees.
- It was either ice bed in the hospital.
- Or Mom and her ice cubes.
- Mom kept me home so I would be more “comfortable.”
Those baths are a vivid memory for me.
- Mom denies being the Ice Queen.
- “A lot of time has passed” she says.
- Talk about a selective memory!Â
Thankfully I seem okay so far today.
(Eating popsicles worked just fine Mom.)
Makes me think of chapter leaders…do you have selective memory about some key element that helped with chapter success – or lack of results?
