Give me a break.

Today I got a letter inviting me to a BIG event.

• An anniversary celebration.
• Going to solve the recession challenges for my business.
• Featuring a local marketing guru.

Plus I’m a VIP!

• It said so in writing.
• And was highlighted in yellow!
• They really want me there.

What’s wrong with this picture?

If I’m really a VIP…

• I would have got more than one week’s notice.
• My invite would be personally signed.
• Plus no yellow highlighted proclamations of my status!

Instead calling me a VIP like this…

• Feels like a phony attempt to play my ego.
• Makes them feel less trustworthy.
• (I Â wonder about the marketing guru too!)

I’m sure they had good intentions.

• It just didn’t work for me.
• I want people to be real with me.
• And forget over-hyped promotions.

Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you make your members feel like VIPs - without insulting their intelligence?
