Hey VIP, We Want YOU at Our Event!
Today I got a letter inviting me to a BIG event.
- An anniversary celebration.
- Going to solve the recession challenges for my business.
- Featuring a local marketing guru.
Plus I’m a VIP!
- It said so in writing.
- And was highlighted in yellow!
- They really want me there.
What’s wrong with this picture?
If I’m really a VIP…
- I would have got more than one week’s notice.
- My invite would be personally signed.
- Plus no yellow highlighted proclamations of my status!
Instead calling me a VIP like this…
- Feels like a phony attempt to play my ego.
- Makes them feel less trustworthy.
- (I Â wonder about the marketing guru too!)
I’m sure they had good intentions.
- It just didn’t work for me.
- I want people to be real with me.
- And forget over-hyped promotions.
Would it have worked for you?
Makes me think of chapter leaders…how do you make your members feel like VIPs - without insulting their intelligence?
