I Can’t Hear You…
Something happened today…
- One of my ears swelled internally.
- It feels like a water balloon in there.
- I can’t hear with that ear.
I’ve had this ear challenge before.
- It’s a pain.
- Will eventually go away.
- (Thankfully I don’t have to fly this week!)
Not hearing with one ear makes conversations interesting.
- I see more than I hear.
- Can lead to some interesting conclusions.
- And I’m not always the best guesser.
At lunch, I had a conversation about a former colleague.
- I was shocked to hear he moved to Grand Rapids.
- About fell off my chair when I learned he has little kids.
- He is in his early 70s!
I was practically speechless - and that doesn’t happen very often!
- I reconfirmed we were talking about “Tom”.
- “Tom! No way! I was talking about Jason.”
- Suddenly things made sense.
The whole experience was weird.
- For almost ten minutes we had basically two simultaneous conversations about two different people!
- I began to wonder what else I mixed up today.
- Or details I created to fill in the silence.
Can’t wait for my ears to clear up so I’m back with the program!
Makes me think of chapter leaders…what message do members get about your chapter when they can’t hear your email communications due to broken computers, not checking email, etc?
