For the last ten years, Jim Collins' bus was the metaphor of choice for those of us who knew that it was the company you keep, not the company, that sustains a great, mission-driven enterprise.

Today the Titanic, overbuilt and overpromised, may come to mind.  If so, it's more than time to abandon deck chair management and commandeer your lifeboat. Who are you taking with you?

Fortunately, I got to choose a year ago, opting out of buses and boats. I ran away and joined the circus. And, although the man in the top hat and tails may appear to be in charge, we know it's really the clowns, redirecting your attention, that manage the Show. 

As Christine Carchia pointed out to me last week, "the tiny car at the circus always has room for one more clown."  What are you waiting for?
